Salvation Army Crest

Fun

Concert with John Port School

What a fantastic evening this was.

The hall of John Port School was full to capacity with parents, children and Salvationists.

Music for the first half was provided by the bands from the school which included a swing band who played several pieces of music of music including “Louie, Louie” and “at the hop.”

We were then treated to a selection of music from the saxophone quintet.

The school’s contribution then concluded with the senior wind band who played music varying from “the Disney classic – Fantasia” and songs from “Pirates of the Caribbean” to “Yesterday” by Lennon McCartney.

The Salvation Army band provided the music for the second half.

Both halves were enjoyed by the audience and many people were heard to be congratulating the different bands on their own styles of music.

Major Benneyworth gave a short talk explaining “what the Salvation Army is all about” and again the audience were genuinely interested in what the band do, why they do it and the part God plays in the bandsmen’s lives.

We thank everyone involved in making the evening such a success, thank you to John Port school for Hosting the evening and thank you to Alan Losh for arranging the whole thing.
