This years annual carol service at "Derby Playhouse" raised £3700.00 for the Mayors
four chosen Charities which were *Association for the blind* *Nightingale Macmillan
Unit* *Neonatal intensive care unit* and *The rotary club -
Both the afternoon and evening performances were conducted by Major and Mrs Gowler (Former officers of Derby Central)
The Christmas pieces played by the Senior band included Joy to the world, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Sneewaltzer, Jingle Bells and Gaudette. The band also accompanied the Timbrel brigade with Three Kings swing and Seasons Greetings.
The Songsters brought to us Let all the World in every corner sing, The Holly and the Ivy, Angels we have heard on high, The Christmas song and O Holy night.
Carols for all 2005

The Young Peoples band played brilliantly "A Christmas Celebration" with Jordan playing his first cornet solo during the piece.
The Singing Company sang Unwrap the meaning of Christmas, Gabriel's message and Angels Carol. These songs encouraged us to think of the real meaning of Christmas, it was lovely to hear the young people singing these words as it is so easy for them to forget about Christ at Christmas.
Both the evening and the afternoon audiences appeared to enjoy the performances and hopefully gained something of the Christmas message.
Happy Christmas and a good new year to all!!
The programme was interspersed with popular carols -
The primary were fantastic when they brought to us the Nativity story, with all the young children speaking their part clearly and giving us an insight into the events that took place many years ago.
