Band cabaret 2007
This annual event is quickly becoming one of my favourites on the band calendar.
Friends and family come from far and wide to a very informal evening of music with a gorgeous meal prepared by one of our own bandsmen helped by wives and mothers of the bandsmen.
The band serenaded their guests with marches, selections and arrangements for just over half an hour.
Everyone then shared together in a meal of Lasagne or Chicken chasseur followed by Strawberries or Chocolate gateaux although most people on my table took advantage of both deserts.
During the meal Karen enchanted the guests with her ever brilliant piano playing.
Once the band had eaten and were seated there was more music including vocal solos from Andy Ward (apparently one was to have been an instrumental solo but he had “lost his horn”)
David Purkiss brought some jazz to the occasion with “Sugar blues” and Colin Sneade amused everyone with his bass playing.
All in all the evening was most enjoyable and well worth a visit if you haven’t been before!!
