An evening with Brett Baker and Margaret Launn

Derby Central band were pleased to be invited to share an evening of music arranged by Daniel Milner of Derby Central corps.

Daniel is training hard at the moment in preparation to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. When he is not training he spends his time raising money for this project which is all in aid of the watershed appeal.

The evening was a wonderful success. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous four course evening meal whilst entertainment was provided by Brett Baker, (trombone – Black Dyke Mills band)  Margaret Launn (International staff songsters) and Derby Central band.

The band accompanied Brett as he played “somewhere over the Rainbow,” “Sarah,” (which has been written especially for his wife) “Swing low” and “The name”

Margaret sang “You made me love you,” “Get happy,” “climb every mountain,” “hopelessly devoted to you,” “Memories” and “When you believe”

Karen Sneade (Piano) accompanied Brett for “Annie Laurie” and Czardas.”

The evening ended with a Trombone and Euphonium duet “The well” played by Brett and Darren Willis

Derby Central played “Three Kings swing,” “The Mission,” “Love changes everything,” and two cornet solos by David Purkiss “So Glad” and “Sugar blues.”

The evening was attended by Duncan Parker (international development Director for Salvation Army) who spoke for a short while of the situations that people like Daniel are working hard to help resolve.
