Tutbury (Mayoral Ceremony)
A short uphill march commenced the day in Tutbury. Heading the March to the church, Derby Central Band were privileged to be part of the ceremonies to welcome a new Mayor (Trevor Hathaway) to East Staffordshire Borough Council.
During the church service the band accompanied the singing along with the organ and played a piece "Fall Afresh." Ceri Hammond, who is a Salvationist and daughter of the Mayor sang "Alleluia" which was very well received by the congregation. Major Benneyworth of Derby Central (also the Mayor's chaplain) brought us some thoughts. The service ended with "I'll go in the strength of the Lord."
After the service the band led the march from the church, around the village of Tutbury, taking the salute from the new Mayor and finishing back at the church.
