Christmas Spectacular
For many years now the annual carol service in Ripley has taken place in the leisure centre. This year there was a change of venue to All Saints Church.
Money raised from this event was for the Blend youth project – Part of Valley CIDS (Christians involved in Derbyshire schools) At the end of the evening they were presented with a cheque for £300.00 for their worthwhile project.
Everyone enjoyed listening to carols sung by “The Topsy Turvey Tots” who looked splendid in their Christmas outfits.
Bandsman (Derby Central Corps) David Purkiss played solos during the evening which included “Away in a Manger,” “have yourself a Merry little Christmas,” “Christmas song,” “How far is it to Bethlehem,” “Rocking Carol,”
Songster Leader (Ripley Corps) Stephen Foulkes entertained us with organ music which included the favourite carol “O, Holy Night”
In addition to accompanying David Purkiss, Derby Central Band also played “Christmas Celebration,” “Immanuel” and my personal favourite “Spirit of Christmas!!”
