YP Band Reunion 2005

After many month of preparation the YP band enjoyed an outstanding reunion weekend, when many past members and leaders from the UK and abroad joined with present members to share in music-making and Christian fellowship.

Leaders for the weekend were Captains Christine and Peter Simpson (Wisbech) who entered training from the corps, where Peter also once served as YP band leader.

During the event Corrie Fox was commissioned as a junior musician, James Milner was commissioned as a senior bandsman. Tribute was paid to those who had taught, and continued to teach, young people in preparation to join the band. YP Band Member Jonathon Finnity spoke about how he witnesses at school, and past members Rachel Horridge and Glen Baxter told of their experiences on life's journey.

Particularly poignant were moments of remembrance for Richard Scott, a band member who was promoted to glory in 1981 aged 12.

Past band leaders conducted the group throughout the weekend, when a diverse collection of music included 'Southdown', 'The Great Crusade' and 'Spiritual Medley'. The reunion ended with the launch of the band's new CD, Teach Me.

The group's present leader, David Morton, confirms that his recently appointed team of local officers is committed to providing the young people with the necessary life skills to help them grow spiritually as well as musically.
